Hartland

Episode 14: Hartland

Richard & Kahlan are walking through the woods and Kahlan tells Richard to stop worrying about Zedd (who if you recall, went off to hide the Box of Orden in some secret spot) and Richard's all "how did you know?" and Kahlan tells him he can't hide anything from her- which yes, she's a Confessor but I think this is mostly to say that she knows Richard so well and also he's her twu wuv.

Kahlan tells Richard to trust her, Zedd is okay. This of course makes Richard all "Wah! Zedd told you where he is and he doesn't trust me!" LOL, Kahlan just smiles sweetly at him and I'm sure she was thinking "Aww, you're so cute when you're bratty"

Then they run into Chase! Seriously, these two must have like special tracking devices that let everyone they know find them easily. No wonder Zedd didn't even set up a meeting place. He was probably like "I'll just run into them in the big ass forest!"

Chase, unfortunately, has been going through some tough times. He escaped from a D'Haran prison, his family got kidnapped and Hartland's been invaded by Gars and D'Haran soldiers.

The part where Chase says just hearing that Richard was nearby gave him strength was so sweet. Awwww.
Richard vows to help Chase (and Hartland) because if he can't protect his own hometown, what kind of Seeker is he? Oh, Richard, always so idealistic.

Kahlan makes them put on the D'Haran outfits they get from soldiers they beat up. And then she has an awesome idea to get past the boundary- to pretend to be a prostitute! Everyone loves a prostitute, afterall. LOL. I love that this was her idea.

I love seeing Bridget Regan whenever she gets a chance to not be "Kahlan" for a little bit because she's a fab actress and also seems to have fun with it :)

Chase's family is unfortunately, gone :(

They decide to find answers in Hartland and guess who they run into? Cause they run into everyone. Anna.
Okay, so I totally expected Anna to suck big time cause she was horrid in that clip show episode but the "real" Anna wasn't bad at all. She was brave and helped Richard and didn't step on Kahlan's toes or anything. I was quite surprised.

But, of course, as soon as Kahlan realizes who this Anna is, you can tell she's jealous/sad. But even she doesn't react in the typical television way. I appreciated how un-cliche this episode was with the triangle element.
Though seriously, Kahlan? She has nothing to worry about. Anna literally has nothing on her.
I don't think there's another woman that Richard could ever love now that he's in love with her :)

Richard goes to confront his sucky brother, Michael, who's working with the D'Harans. Richard is very upset and saddened by this but Michael swears he's only helping the D'Harans because they've been protecting the village. The one in charge now is a D'Haran viceroy.

Richard is shocked when he sees Anna all friendly with the Viceroy but she's only doing that to try and find out where her brother was taken.

Richard & Anna have their reunion (which sorry, I couldn't force myself to cap too much of) and Richard tells her what he's been doing. Anna believes him and tells him she always knew he was meant for greater things (like Kahlan hee hee).

They discover that the D'Harans have been lying to everyone and are sending people to be food for the Gars, including Anna's brother. Richard comforts her. He spends most of this episode comforting or saving Anna, which I didn't mind too much cause that's just who Richard is. He doesn't love her or anything :)

Meanwhile Kahlan's all annoyed babysitting Michael, who's all "Richard? A hero? No way!" Kahlan's all "You dont know anything!"

Then she gets even more pissed when Richard, Chase & Anna come back with the bad news of what they're doing with the missing people. Michael says he will reveal the truth at one of the town prayer hour (or whatever thats called).

I love that even though Richard's hugging Anna, Kahlan isn't even bothered with it. She's too busy giving Michael the evil eye, hehe.

Kahlan tells Richard she admires Anna and tells him that when Darken Rahl is defeated he can go back home and be with Anna.
I loooove, loooove, loooove that Richard stops her right away and is like wtf. Even though these two know they love eachother, I appreciate the fact that Richard spelled it out for her.
I also love that even though Kahlan tries to push him to Anna, its because she truly loves him and wants him to be happy, even if it's not with her and that'll kill her.
They really handled this in such a better way than I had imagined.

Kahlan, why are we talking about this?
Because you deserve a normal life. A wife, a family.
It wouldn't be fair to Anna.
Why not?
How can I marry her when my heart belongs to somebody else?

Afterwards, Michael tries to make the big reveal to the village but is stopped. The plan they had worked out for Anna to distract the Viceroy backfires and Anna is captured and taken to be eaten by a Gar.
Of course, Richard & Kahlan and Chase save her. Kahlan even tends to her wounds! Kahlan rocks.

After Michael shows up, they all go off to fight the Viceroy and his men. Anna hides out in the woods and tries to shoot some arrows. LOL. Sorry, I'm mean.

The Viceroy is going to kill Anna, but Kahlan saves her :)

Michael saves Richard and dies :( And just when he was finally becoming a good brother! Now poor Richard has officially lost his old family. Maybe we can see Michael again in flashbacks or in clip shows! Actually, please no more clip shows.

Kahlan tells the now confessed Viceroy that while she's gone, Anna will be his mistress. Ooo la la.
Anna's all "I wish I had your power to control men" but I actually think she meant it more as admiration than "you're a witch who's enslaved Richard" so I liked that part. I liked that she and Kahlan ultimately bonded.

Chase asks the Viceroy where his family is and he says they've been taken to some secret dark magic place. Kahlan looks kinda worried which means next episode does not bode well for our heroes.

I'd ask you to stay but I know you have a bigger destiny...and other people who need you.
Yup, you know he ain't leaving Kahlan.

The boundary is sealed again and Richard & Chase are sad they can't return home ever again. But can't they just get one of those sprite thingies, like Shar, which Kahlan used?
Oh, and they also send a fake message to Darken Rahl that the Seeker is dead, which if I were him, I totally wouldn't buy.

Now there's really no going home again.
